Learning how to maximize a quick weekend away is imperative to travel more around your standard 9-5. One of the best ways to maximize quick weekends away is to learn how to get the most out of free entertainment. The more you are able to budget your quick trips, the more quick trips you are able to take!
I recently went on a quick weekend away to Savannah, Georgia and here are five free activities to enjoy in Savannah.
Free Savannah Walking Tours:
This will walk you around the city giving you great history and stories for free! You will learn the history of Savannah becoming a city, how it was built, and how the history of the city is still intertwined with present day Savannah. Of course tips at the end are appreciated if you enjoyed the tour!

Parks and Squares:
The entire city is made up of wards and squares filled with plaques to read about the city’s history, and gorgeous live oak trees with hanging Spanish moss. The various wards and squares are picturesque and a lovely place to sit and relax, or enjoy the various farmers markets, live music or artists that pop up on the weekends.

Bonaventure Cemetery:
This famous burial ground established in 1907 is filled with azaleas and Spanish moss. Enjoy walking through this historic burial ground. The scenery is stunning with the old tombstones, colorful flowers and Live Oak trees spread around the grounds. It's a wonderfully peaceful location for a walk.

Relax at Tybee Island:
Just a 20 minute drive from downtown Savannah, Tybee Island is a great place to enjoy a gorgeous beach, walk the famous pier and see the picturesque lighthouse. Enjoy the laid back atmosphere of this beach town and indulge in delicious seafood at various restaurants. I highly recommend The Crab Shack, AJ's Dockside and Pier 16. This is a great area to walk around in your flip flops and bathing suit, enjoy the ocean and a nearby cocktail.

Walk the thriving River District:
There’s great window shopping, beautiful scenery and live outdoor music. You can get cocktails to-go and enjoy them outside while you window shop and enjoy the various live bands that will be playing along the walk. And don't miss this free activities:
Waving Girl Statue: This is a tribute to Florence Martus who used to wave a cloth at approaching ships from the lighthouse.
Browse through River Street Open-air Marketplace for artisan gifts and Savannah souvenirs.
Savannah Candy Kitchen: This is a great place for nostalgic treats and pecan pralines!
Pop into the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside for a surprising collection of fossils, chrome plated dinosaur bones and large rare stone - completely free! @jwmarriottsavannah
Go into the Electric Moon bar for a great view of River Street and the Talmadge Memorial Bridge
