A little about me... I'm an 80's baby that grew up like so many of my peers. Traveling happened once per year when our parents loaded up the station wagon as we headed off to a relatives house within driving distance. I played car games with my siblings when we weren't arguing about whether or not someone's clothing had draped over to "our side" of the seat. Traveling for fun, or to simply explore was never a thought... until it became one of the only thoughts.
When I was in college, I heard some friends talking about studying abroad. I didn't even really know what it meant, but I applied, and was accepted to go to school at Keele University in New Castle, United Kingdom. I had zero clue what to pack or what to expect; but I was going! And if ever you hear this story from my mother, the first thing she will tell you is that the first night, I called her on Skype crying my eyes out. I woke up in the middle of my first night and was hungry, scared and cold! I didn't know how to work the heat, and hadn't thought to get food before I went to bed. But, the next morning, the sun came up, the stores opened, and so my journey began! I met three wonderful friends who wanted to explore every opportunity we had. And thus, the fire inside of me to explore this wide world was lit.
After graduating from college, I became a teacher, and took advantage of every possible break from school to book flights and explore internationally and domestically. This has been my greatest passion and has shaped my adulthood in the best ways. I have become a glutton for a cheap flight, gorgeous scenery, beautiful waterfalls, and every adventure.
I am certainly not a social media aficionado by any stretch, and when I decided this morning to start a blog, I messaged one of my best pals and asked, "Oh no! Does this mean I'll have to actually get an Instagram?!" So, this is certainly outside of my comfort zone, but I am excited to see what this becomes!
Adventures for Anyone is fitting for this blog, because truly anyone can travel. And the way that I travel can be suitable for any adult and budget! Of course I envy the bloggers that I see traveling full time, but that simply isn't feasible for the majority of us out there. I hope these highlights, agendas and tips of quick weekends away and shorter trips around the globe will be an inspiration to someone out there! Adventure is out there for us all! Happy Travels!
